What better way to enjoy a rainy day than with a warming apple crumble made with home grown apples! Not a new bake but a perfect one for the weather.
Ingredients:
450g apples (after peeled & cored)
50g sugar
1tbsp plain flour
1 pinch cinnamon (optional)
Crumble:
300g plain flour
175g sugar
125g DF butter
Method:
Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees
Peel, core and cut apples into small pieces
Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon into the apple pieces, without breaking up the fruit
For the crumble, cut the butter into cubes and add to the flour and sugar cube at a time, rubbing them into the flour until all butter is used and mix looks like breadcrumbs
Grease the dish, then add the apple mix then crumble into the dish
Bake for 35 - 40 minutes until brown on top and bubbling.
